Join Trains.com staff member Sean Kirby as he rides onboard a Renfe Alvia high-speed train for the first leg of his return trip from Spain. Under the first light of the day, you’ll venture with Sean to the modern Segovia Guiomar station, 40 miles north of Madrid. After scanning your ticket, you’ll descend to the platform and board the Class 121 train (making sure you get on the right car!). As the train rockets down the tracks at 155 mph (250 kph), enjoy views of the beautiful Spanish countryside through the large, picture windows. Just 30 minutes later, the journey ends as the train pulls into the Madrid-Chamartin station.

A pre-dawn departure aboard the modern Renfe Alvia trainset, meant Sean would have to wait briefly for the amazing Spanish countryside views to illuminate in the panoramic array of coach car windows.
