The Rocky Mountaineer began as a VIA Rail service in Canada in the late 1980s. Operating over Canadian National tracks from Vancouver, British Columbia to Jasper, Alberta, the service was privatized in 1990 and the Rocky Mountaineer now operates three routes in Canada and a new route in the United States. We caught up with one of the Canadian trains running over the Canadian Pacific between Golden and Kamloops, British Columbia, operating as an all daylight sightseeing train.
