The Union Pacific main through Nebraska is one of the best train-watching spots in America, with a plethora of trains operating over double track and sometimes triple track mainline.  U.S. Route 30 closely parallels the railroad, making this stretch of the Union Pacific a great place to see trains.  Let’s follow the route from Cheyenne, Wyo. and the climb up Archer Hill, to Point of Rocks and the Nebraska plains.  We’ll take you to the massive Bailey Yard in North Platte, Neb. and lots of other scenic locations in this first installment of the Great Railfan Roads series.

  1. Throw in a Streamliner or two and I could be convinced to leave the Carolina Lowcountry for a while, great photos and story.
