The Illinois Terminal begun in 1895 as a steam-powered switching road at Federal, Ill., near Alton. In 1925 it was merged into the electrified Illinois Traction System. Along the way, viewers will see an Illinois Central passenger train; an IC freight with leased Rio Grande diesels; a New York Central (Peoria & Eastern) freight; and Toledo, Peoria & Western yard.
