Follow host Gerry Leone as he digs into the plans and efforts to rework a structure he initially kitbashed for a previous iteration of his HO scale (1:87.1) Bona Vista model railroad. But first, he ventures back to the old familiar set of his “Off The Rails” series, all with the objective of answering a reader question that was misplaced in the fog of the global pandemic.

  1. Very interesting technique for the peeling paint effect, will have to try it.
I noticed you using a clear stick tool with a very fine tip for applying the glue? Can you explain what that is, or where they might be available?
    Always learning from you.

  2. Hi Gerry.
Those wire hangers would be really simple to 3D print, and they’d be really quick prints too!

Love this series. I’m always happy when I see a new episode pop up on Trains.com

    1. Thanks, Ron — I appreciate it! Good thought about 3D printing! My only concern would be, are they flexible enough so that you can bend them open? Most of the 3D printed stuff I’ve seen is pretty brittle.

  3. You make the rest of look like lazy-bums. But as always, fantastic job. You show us all it can be done. Thanks Steve Moore

  4. My own favorite model rr layout wire hanger I found at Home Depot, Cable Clip Stackers model number SI-1 by 3M that are sold in bags of 25 for about $10. I’m able to add or remove wires or multi conductor cables by feel just reaching under the layout and making changes is very easy. Thanks for another great episode. -jkelty

  5. Thanks Artie! It’s been a while since I shot that episode (like…last June!) so I don’t really remember the specifics of the lights. But I’d guess that they were classic warm white LEDs, which I use in most larger buildings. As far as a night shot of the building at the beginning of my next video, the “next” video was shot last July! (I obviously like to stay well ahead of deadlines… 🙂 )

  6. So cool – a kit-bash squared! What kind of lights did you use for the interior? When you do your next video open with a shot of this building lit at night for us to see.
Thanks again for another inspiring episode.
    Artie
