With a basic frame in place, host David Popp shares plans to build up the latest section of his On30 narrow gauge model railroad.
Olympia & Sand Creek, Episode 2 | Starting the new section
| Last updated on December 22, 2022
Watch all-new episodes of this ever-expanding On30 empire!
Super excited to see Sand Creek finally moving forward. I have enjoyed the Olympia series more than all the other project railroads combined.
What would think about some tall curved cribbing around the front of the turntable instead of a slope? Could look really cool!
Great news that the O& SC is back!! Can you post the Facebook page for the model or for Model Railroader whichever is the one you referenced. Thanks! Love version 3!
David thanks so much for starting back up Olympia & Sand Creek series. I built a 1900’s small layout inspired by your Olympia and completed it with card type operations that my 11 year old Grand daughter seems to understand better than I do. Unfortunately this layout also sat dormant for the last 4 or 5 months. Just the other day one of the other online Model Railroad magazines (has a H in it’s title) has a section on keeping your model railroad fresh and interesting. They show how to move the time period up or back and have removable sections that you can swap in and out as well as changing year of vehicle’s, locomotives, rolling stock and scenery. Just a though.
Thanks again and Happy Holiday’s to the staff at Trains.com.

David, For the sake of your wife, do not leave out her Farm House!!!
David, What company have you bought your people from?
Hi David! Happy to see this series back in action!! Looking forward to lots of good viewing as you make progress on the third module.
I really like your Version 3. I suggest one small tweak that you might think about. I’d slide the farmhouse to the right, closer to the river and I’d slide the station to the left, away from the switch point. You had mentioned that you’d like to add a couple of storefronts for the town. With this small adjustment, the storefronts could be to the left of the farmhouse and be just behind the station. Most small towns have the station in the town and this cluster of storefronts and station would give the look of a small town. In addition, the farmhouse would have the look of a house on the “outskirts” of town.
I’m glad to be a returning subscriber and really glad to see my favorite series in work again. I like the idea of a small town area with some storefronts and it’s nice that you can utilize that beautiful scratchbuilt model of your wife’s childhood home. Thanks David for bringing us along as you continue this On30 adventure.
David! So excited that Olympia is back in the form of OSC! Thank you for the wonderful, informative, interesting video series. Can’t wait for the next episode!
