Get ready for a barn burner of an episode, when David Popp jumps into high gear to complete various scenery and structure projects on his Olympia & Sand Creek On30 display layout. Efforts include adding fences, installing the Armstrong-type turntable, and revamping the barn a bit. Be sure to explore the entire Olympia series, appearing exclusively on Trains.com Video!
Now that the turntable is fastened in, does the track operate? Can you bring in a train, showing some brief moves to drop or pick up cars, turn the loco and return? Or have a few passengers arrive and depart? A brief fun break.
Great instalment David. You might want to add a beam poking out, from that upper-level doorway, with a block & tackle for raising and lowering hay, tools, etc. into the top section.
Thanks Michael. That was already in the works when this episode posted. Watch for it to appear in a future installment. It’s a very “barn” detail!
Hi David! Thanks for the new episode of OSC! Funny, yet important, observation by Lee Williams! Get out the black paint? Hehe. Marc
David, the cattle behind the fence are Herefords, which are beef cattle. You might want to repaint them to match the Holstein cow being milked.
Yes, I’m aware. The farm down the road by me has both, so I figured I could do that here, but that might be a modern convention. By this point, the cows are firmly attached to the layout, so in the pasture they will stay! perhaps the Holstein is just the family’s milk cow, but they raise beef cattle for a living?
