A pre-production sample of the Broadway Limited Imports N scale Reading T-1 paid a visit to our Milwaukee, Racine & Troy State Line Route layout. Model Railroader editor Eric White and senior editor Cody Grivno discuss the features on the die-cast metal and plastic model and take the 4-8-4 for a spin around the 4 x 12-foot layout.
The T-1 4-8-4 will be offered decorated for Reading Co. (in-service and Iron Horse Rambles schemes, three road numbers per scheme), 1976 American Freedom Train, Chessie System Steam Special, and Delaware & Hudson Centennial. A painted black but unlettered version will also be available. Fictional schemes will include Christmas, Conrail Steam Special, and Independence Day. Each paint scheme will be offered in one number unless noted.
The Broadway Limited Imports N scale Reading T-1 will have a dual-mode Paragon4 sound decoder featuring Rolling Thunder, back-electromotive-force control, a built-in capacitor, and an operating smoke unit with an on/off switch. The model has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $449.99.
