Thanks for using my Question.
What are your thoughts on 3DPrinting in the model railroading hobby and are there any plans to do any videos on it? Also if you have done any 3D Printing what type of paints have you used on them?
Do you folks have any suggestions for good articles that provide guides for scenery on deforested areas? The region my prototype railroad is running through was essentially deforested in the era I am modeling, save for a few stands of cedar trees, and I can’t think of any articles I have seen since being an MR subscriber in 2014 that has covered this type of terrain, and modeling a non-mountainous but treeless area seems to be quite a challenge.
David mentioned not using the spdt switches of the tortoise to power the frogs on the Canadian Canyons layout because they moved too slow. Please elaborate. Was it an automation problem? It seems to me that a manual toggle switch would simply need to be toggled earlier.
I have used the SPDT on the Tortoise to power the frog and points on many N scale Peco electrofrog turnouts with out any shorting problems. You need to just be sure the points are centered when the tortoise actuator arm is centered.
Sorry, wrong episode!
The “G” in U28CG and U30CG meant the units carried a steam generator for passenger train heating and air conditioning in the steam generator room behind the cab.
