Q: In the Sept. 2019 Passenger column on Page 18, I see that a Series 6 Talgo locomotive is leaning while being inspected. Was that tilt normal? — Robert Muckey, Williamson, N.Y.
A: There were definitely no issues with the trainset in any of the tests of the Series 6 trainset at Transportation Technology Center, in Pueblo, Colo., back in 1998. The photograph is of a routine inspection of both the trainset and locomotive taking place on a super elevated curve at the TTC to measure clearances. The inherent tilt of the curve makes the locomotive lean to the inside of the curve as shown. — Bob Johnston
