BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Four people were hurt after a track fire broke out in a New York City Transit subway station this evening (Sunday, Dec. 24), WPIX-TV reports.

The Fire Department of New York said firefighters responded to the High Street-Brooklyn Bridge station on the A and C lines after a fire broke out on the tracks about 6:30 p.m. It took about an hour to bring the fire under control. Those injured were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

WABC reports the fire broke out under a train. The cause is under investigation but is believed to be related to trash on the tracks.

NYC Transit said on social media that A/C trains were diverted onto the F line for a time, but by shortly after 8 p.m. ET service had resumed, although with delays.
