Amtrak has resumed some of its service that has been cancelled as a result of Hurricane Ian, with some modifications, while Orlando-area commuter operator SunRail will resume operations with a modified schedule on Monday.
As of today (Sunday, Oct. 2) regular service is resuming for both directions of Auto Train between Lorton, Va., and Sanford, Fla., and the Palmetto between New York and Savannah, Ga. Today’s southbound Silver Star, train No. 91 from New York, will terminate in Jacksonville, Fla., on Monday, Oct. 3, with bus transportation for passengers traveling to Jacksonville, Orlando, and Tampa.
Northbound Silver Star service will resume Monday, but will originate in Jacksonville. The Miami-Jacksonville segment is cancelled; bus transportation will be provided for passengers traveling from Tampa, Orlando, and Jacksonville.
The SunRail schedule reflects normal operations except on the line’s three southernmost stations — Tupperware, Kissimmee/Amtrak, and Poinciana — where trains will not operate. A bus bridge will serve those stations from the Meadow Woods station. More details, including a full schedule, are available at the SunRail website.
