The Susquehanna Hose Co. of Havre de Grace, Md., posted images on its Facebook page Aug. 9, showing a fire boat spraying water on a railroad bridge spanning the river. The fire department’s social media post claimed that the bridge is owned by CSX Transportation.
In a statement, a CSX representative wrote, in part: “We worked in close coordination with the first responders and held train traffic out of the area to allow for a safe response. The fire has been extinguished and rail operations resumed.”
The Baltimore Sun reports that the fire was reported about 3 p.m. Friday but that firefighters quickly put it out. The newspaper cites a CSX statement saying that the bridge is back in service.
