Dear readers: After turning off the commenting function for TrainsPro articles on Tuesday, March 17, we are restoring them this afternoon (Wednesday, March 18) on a trial basis to see if we have successfully addressed the problem with spam comments.
As mentioned previously, the number of such posts — which include many that our filters keep from reaching readers — had reached the point where it degraded the website’s ability to function last weekend. We are hopeful this will not recur.
We did not take the interruption of comments lightly. We hope this brief interruption has improved the Trains.com experience for everyone by addressing the spam posts that had concerned many of you. Thank you for your patience as we addressed this problem
