  1. I am assuming that this is the last of the Midday Modeler Series?!? There has not been a post here that was described as a Midday Modeler since. It is now November 20th, 2022. Is there an explanation?

  2. Back in the late 1960’s and early 70’s, I belonged to the Peninsula Model Railroad Association in San Mateo, CA. There was a nice article about the club in MR in 1985. When I first joined the club, Bob DuPont was the club president, he was also a past president of the NMRA from 1986-1990. He mentioned that a few of the club members made the trip south to Monterey to visit John Allen and view the layout. Oh, how I wish I was a member then. I did get a chance to meet him at a PCR Division meet when I was taking photos of models entered in the modeling contest. He asked me if I needed a tripod to use while taking my shots, I declined but thinking back, it was pretty special that we briefly spoke, even though I said no to him. What was I thinking?!

  3. So happy to hear the update on trains.com. If in the future you could also build in the ability to watch all the videos of a project railroad one right after another that would be just amazing. Clicking on each of the 70+ videos on one of my favorite series, Olympia 1&2+Summer Camp is maddening. Thanks for the consideration and keep up the great work!

  4. Thank you for the update on Trains.com Video! I was about ready to cancel as it has been so frustrating trying to find new content. Looking forward to the newly designed site.

  5. I’m going to miss the weekly Midday Modeler sessions. I was never able to join a live stream, but watched faithfully on Thursdays. It was often the railroading highlight of my week.

Glad to see the Trains.com video will organize all the series together. That will make a huge difference. Just one request. At the end of the video, have it link to the next in the series, so I can binge watch without having to go back a page to select the next video, which is somewhat cumbersome through a smart TV browser.

  6. Actually, this vid has the best sound I’ve ever heard on Midday Modeler! Perhaps you got a better mic for the camera? For those who have never handled microphones (note the “s”!), you need to remember that every mic needs to have its own path to the recording. That normally means you need a box (mixer) that can control the volume (or even mute) for each mic and then combine the ‘sounds’ into a single output. Optimally, the sound “tracks” have all been recorded so they can be edited, if needed. These boxes cost several hundreds of dollars at a minimum (four tracks/inputs) and require an operator with a bit of experience, especially if doing a “live event”. And then there are the microphones! Those are not cheap, either! :+0

  7. I am super excited and thrilled to hear about Trains.com Video!!!! Thanks for upgrading this site as the current site has been very frustrating to locate project videos, let alone in order! I feel like it is an early Christmas.

  8. Thanks guys, I have enjoyed the midday modeler and am looking forward to the newer version of the Trains.com video section. I have missed being able to easily find the project railroads, I’ve watched some of them 2 or 3 times over the years and still like to re-watch portions of them.

  9. I still don’t understand why the Sound is so poor on these types of Mid Day Modelers, why don’t you guys wear Microphones? Other than the sound, these programs are great!!!
