Shortly after the Facebook live stream, the Midday Modeler — 04.20.2022 video is taken down from Facebook and posted to Trains.com where it is available only to Model Railroader Video Plus members and Trains.com Unlimited Members.
Thank you for the article and TUG video on removing the Rapido body shell. Is it possible to get a video or an article on repairing a body shell locking tab if it should happen to break off while disassembling the shell from the frame? Something that would be applicable to most shells, not just Rapido. Thanks!
These videos are great, look forward to them each week and can’t wait to see the Olympia updates!
How many of us thought Dalek as the first thing we saw? Does Kathy Millet have a Police Call box on her layout? Just couldn’t resist.
Great show, been really enjoying all the episodes, unfortunately I have to work so can’t see them “live”. I 2nd the motion on showing more details on the masonite cleaning car.
Question (or maybe a topic in an upcoming episode), I’m currently building my first large layout (ok large for me 14×14). I’ve built my benchwork with 1/2″ plywood on top. On top of the plywood, I’ve put 2″ extruded foam board over that. Is that a bad idea? I see most of your project railroads put the track directly on the plywood and just use foam board around that for scenery. Just curious if I’m going down a “bad” road with this approach.
Thanks for providing great resources for the hobby, I’ve learned so much with being a trains.com member.
Two inch foam insulation is surprising rigid stuff. I use a combination of shelf brackets and basic benchwork underneath it and skipped the plywood layer entirely. Of course, foam will break if you sit on it or crawl up on the layout, but since my max layout width is 24″, that hasn’t been an issue for me. In one place I used two layers of 1-inch foam, one for the base and then I cut the top layer into an embankment shape where the track crosses a low-lying area. I don’t have any grades, but I would recommend a similar approach using the top layer cookie-cutter style. Just be sure to use a foam-safe adhesive!
Any way that a video can be made on how to make a masonite cleaning car.
Please mike the guy taking questions and comments or at least have the top banana repeat the question. Often the banana’s response has no context.
Can we continue to get updates on Ben’s GP30 project?
How about a Kitbash Challenge with HO Scale rolling stock?
Remember folks, you can easily and quickly refer to many things brought up on Midday Modeler by subscribing to MR Archive, the cost is worth it. Efficiently go back to those articles highlighted in the show.
I believe your time slot is currently 1:00 PM Central Daylight Time, not 1:00 PM Central Standard Time. We’ll see what time we end up on with the bill going through Congress.
Hans’ scenery with the vertical backdrop coved into the foreground is just stunning. Standing in front of the scene your eye goes to the horizon. Fabulous.
Have really been enjoying the Midday Modeler episode. I would enjoy hearing more about Gerry‘s experience in building his fast track turnouts. I did read the article in Model Railroad magazine but would like to hear him talk about it. Thanks for the great job in producing this segment David
Super show today. Keep them coming.
