  1. Hello, love the both of you folks and so much appreciate you sharing your wonderful layout. I’m from Texas but boy did that take me down memory lane of my home town. Have a great day, Thomas

  2. I have enjoyed watching Renee’s workmanship in building structures. Your layout is absolutely FIRST CLASS! And, thank you Ray for your service to our country!

  3. A beautiful layout and wonderful people. You are a great ambassadors for our hobby. I have always remember this particular railroad for 3 reasons, 1) The Soo Line, 2) in O scale, and 3) that great little outdoor railroad (in N scale?)!! What a great idea. Thank you, Andy Keeney

  4. Wow! Such a lucky couple. I so often read things like, “I had to negotiate for the extra 4 feet for this…” Ray and Renee seem to both love the diversity of this hobby. I truly believe that it has something for everyone. Woodworking, electronics, history, delicate craft work, just to name a few and… of course the magic of the iron horse from the 19th to the 21st century. Ray and Renee, I hope you encourage other couples to embrace this past time together.

  5. Outstanding craftmanship by both.. Renee has a rare talent of duplicating real life structures. I love this layout. And thank you Ray for your service.

  6. Fantastic to watch. Those are hands down the most realistic houses and buildings I have ever seen! What a wonderful job!

  7. Absolutely outstanding work, and obviously loving work as well. Your styrene buildings are great, can you recommend a class/video for styrene? Anyway, beautiful layout, and beautiful video…

  8. I remember the HO layout the two of you built, still have the video of it, and watch it at least once a year. Absolutely fell in love with that layout, and it has given me much inspiration over the years. Was absolutely giddy to see a video here on your O scale layout, and once again the two of you have created an incredible work of art. Beautiful work, and thanks for sharing! This will give me even more inspiration over the next few years as I finish up my current layout. 🙂 Thanks Renee for sharing your “secrets” with the rest of us on creating your incredible structures. 😉

  9. Very impressive Ray and Renee. I to ride a work engine in the 50s when visiting my grandparents in Covington TN. Where do you live in Kentucky. Send me an email to

  10. Thank you, Ray and Renee, for this video and the trip down memory lane. The two of you have collectively created a beautiful model railroad and you both are a great inspiration to others. I appreciate the level of effort and detail that you have put into this gorgeous layout. Words can hardly express what you have accomplished and it’s great that this video helps to memorialize your work of art.

Thanks to both of you for sharing this with others and a special thanks to Ray for his service to our country!

  11. Thank you, Renee and Ray, for the wonderful trip back. This is the country that formed some of us and is slowing changing into the future. It was a good life, my Dad and Mom worked hard.
Right now my wife is finally baking my birthday favorite rhubarb pie, and old memories are rolling past my eyes and wafting past my nose. Another great evening. Thanks again.

  12. Thank you Renee and Ray for sharing your beautiful layout with us. The both of you are very talented modelers and together you’ve created a museum quality model railroad. It was a nice trip down memory lane.

  13. Ray and Renee, I’m 77 years old and have NEVER seen such consistent excellence in scratch built structures. Five stars to your exquisite Soo Line nostalgia display.

  14. Beautiful layout – scenery and buildings are awesome. Such attention to detail and it’s great that the
structures have so much meaning to the Grosser’s.
Thanks for sharing it with us.
    .

  15. Rock house is similar to what are called cobble stone houses which are unique to an area of upstate NY west of Rochester NY near Lake Ontario. Outstanding layout.

  16. In the early 1950’s, we rode a Soo line train that looked just like this one to Waupaca WS. to see my grandparents. I really remember the conductor. When announcing the next station he always carried the word next out, “Nexxxxxxxxxxxxxxt”. Sounded just like the engine letting off steam.

  17. Very charming couple and very beautiful layout! The Buildings are so pretty and so perfect and master pieces So much details and so much love to create all of them. Thanks for sharing this video. God bless you!
