Thanks again Mike… fits into my top 3 of model railroad layouts!
Mike, a great video featuring an excellent layout. How did you create the graphics on your control panel? It looks so professionally done. Very enjoyable trip through the Rockies in N Scale!!!
Thanks.
Wow, breathtaking. This layout is probably the best representation of the D&RGW frontal range to the Moffit route in the entire country. Hard to think it is N scale. Nobody is going to beat this.
Beautiful layout Mike…. wondering what color or colors you used to weather your track and ballast? I’m assuming you airbrushed it. It looks similar to the color of Eric Brooman’s Utah Belt. Thanks for the tour!
Mike.. great job on your layout. I’ve lived in the Ken Caryl area for over 30 years, close to the area that you model, and have to say I wasn’t sure if I was watching a model railroad or the real thing. Great job in every phase of modeling, from great scenery to weathering of your locomotives.
Best representation of Colorado scenery I’ve ever seen. The snow reminds me our last trip over the mountains to Winter Park for skiing before we left Colorado. Love the ruts in the snow and realism of hte plow job. The dirty D&RGW locomotives are spot on.
I spent some time today watching layout videos. This was THE BEST!!
Gorgeous layout! Bravo, Mike!
Nicely done Mike… I enjoyed the tour of your layout. Thanks for sharing how you modeled the snow!
Well produced and fascinating video. I live in Highlands Ranch CO, just south of the metro Denver area and model Wyoming and Nebraska on my N-Scale layout. Having spent the bulk of my career as a TV News Director, I know full well the work that went into this video. Well done.
I’ll have to go back and re-read the issue with this layout in it. I do recall several articles on how to model winter scenes but I’m particularly curious about how he modelled it so convincingly in N scale.
Such a superb layout. Thanks for sharing video of it.
LONG LIVE RIO GRANDE! good job Mike on your layout.
Mike, Very nicely done! Your scenery is wonderful and very realistic! I too am impressed with the snowy look to everything near Moffat Tunnel and the flat light look to everything in this area of the layout! You are a true artist! Thanks for sharing your layout with everyone!
Everything is brilliant especially the snow scene. Tremendous feeling of spaciousness and elevation and the mountain terrain is stunning.
I have several videos on this line and I can tell you that the accuracy here is spot on. There is nothing better than mountain railroading and when the snow flies it is even better. Your work on this layout is fantastic and the snow looks amazing. Very well done and true to scale and realism. Also have to mention that beautiful cabinet that was built for you. Wow just really doesn't do it justice.
I am a huge fan of mountain railroading in general but have always loved the Rio Grande
WOW!!! Well done doesn't begin to adequately cover what you've accomplished here.
I love the whole layout.
But just in awe of the winter scene!
Just fabulous!
Very very nice! Scenery is stunning! Mike is an artist. Enjoyed the video
The scenery on this layout is absolutely stunning!! I am blown away at the realism. I railfanned the same area back in 2008 and I can easily recognize the locations on the layout. Nice Job!
Mike – Just beautiful and done so expertly.
Congratulations Mike on building an artful and very realistic layout. Some of those scenes in the video look real and the Moffat tunnel portal is just too real. Great job, thanks for sharing.
Mike – Absolutely amazing! What an incredible and inspiring layout you've created. Thank you for sharing.
Fantastic! The snow scenes were magnificent! So real, that I paused at every snow scene. Thanks so much!
