David shows how he attached fascia to the State Line Route N scale layout to give it a more finished appearance. It can be especially tricky when there are no extra hands around to help with the curves, but David has a solution! Plus, Gerry Leone and Seth Puffer have finished building their structures for the layout and have some tips to share.

  1. The process Gerry used for n-scale mortar lines looks absolutely wonderful, but his description of how he did it leaves me wanting a more detailed description of the process. And I noticed that Seth also used an excellent method of mortar lines. I’d love to see a more detailed description of how they accomplished this. I’ve used several “tried and true” methods that really didn’t cut it and I had pretty much decided to forget about n-scale mortar lines – until I saw these models. So, using more than one sentence, how did they do it?

  2. When building layouts, I have used foam since the ‘80s. Facia was always the last step after the foam scenery was done. This allowed for the edge of the scenery layer to be traced onto the fascia for off layout cutting.

  4. I really like your finished kits. How about taking som photos of them. Printing the photos and cutting out some of the buildings, you easily could get a nice addition to that block. And yes print some new signs for them. Cost would be almost nothing. That i like. The money saved could easily be spent on more paint.
By the way are your nice people at MR reading our thoughts ?
    thanks for a nice video.

  5. One suggestion. Would be nice to see an aerial walkover of all the track – main, sidings and yard – in its final, installed form. Maybe with any comments on how the final compared with the original drawing since minor adjustments always seem to be needed no matter how diligent the initial plan.

    1. They’ve mention on Social Media that it’s the project layout so starting in January, they’ll have their series of articles.
