Don’t miss this exclusive HO scale Milwaukee, Racine & Troy steel cupola caboose.
It seems to me that layout meets the goals they set out for it. This is not necessarily a home layout, it’s a platform to showcase modelling techniques and technology through entertaining video tutorials.
Don’t listen to them David; this is a great layout. I can’t wait to finish and to start taking pictures of the different scenes. Great job and great way to teach advanced pike building.
Thanks David, Learned alot.
Regardless if this is an operating layout or just a section of a layout for demonstration purposes, it still has value for me. I learn new techniques and discover new products to accomplish each step in creating the scenery along the railway. Thank you MR staff.
I my opinion, the Canadian Canyons “project” is a successful layout in the best traditions of MRVP for several reasons. First of all, the layout portrays many “how to do it” projects from how to plan a layout,
build a helix, wire track, switches, signals and detection circuits using the latest techniques and technology.
Secondly, the project ex[plains how to plan and construct rugged mountainous scenery, construct roadways, tunnels and simulate water features, plus structures building and realistic weathering. Third, the
layout attempts to capture the essence of the Canyons and rivers that frame the routes of the Canadian Pacific and Canadian National railroads as they wind through the spectacular scenery of British Columbia.
Canadian Canyons layout is all about what is possible. It is a teaching layout. Not much for operating, but
lots of opportunity for railfanning in miniature. Good job MRVP. .
Great looking layout with a lot of technology….BUT, There is less than a circle of track to view trains. I would be bored with this pike in about 30 minutes. The cost of the total layout would be very high. The dimensions (especially vertical) would prevent it from easily being moved through a doorway. Sorry guys, close but no cigar.
Looks like it is coming along nicely David. That static grass was unrealistic. This is Fraser Canyon not the Everglades so the HO scale grass needs to be moved. Good work on that river now it is time to pore the resin and call it done.
Very nice scenery tips David. You placed the drift wood in the right places among the larger rocks and in the ‘fill bank’ area where sediment is deposited as opposed to the ‘cut bank’ where the current is much faster. Makes this layout even more believable by following the pics Drew and crew took during this DTA.
I’m beginning to think this is the “Never Ending Story”, but that’s all right. At least a further progress is being made. I just hope that some time before the turn of the century, this project road will be complete. Alright, I peeked ahead and know that it is done. You just haven’t shown us the final reel.
Is the Canyons layout mostly for running trains as I don’t see To Many switches for operation?
Excellent video, David! You make it look so easy. And fun.
