Adding water-slide decals to our HO scale Winston-Salem diesel locomotive is the first step in giving the model a realistic appearance. Cody walks through the prep and application processes for dressing the long hood with horizontal striping.

Hi Cody I am looking for some tips how to make HO Containers Stencil with the name and logo on it it’s the MAERSK the logo is like a star if you could please help me with this one please I want to air brush 50 containers which are all different colours with know logos on them thanks again Cody keep up the fantastic work,

    I misspoke in the video. The maroon stripe is 1/8", not 1/16".

  5. It's very important to have a smooth, gloss surface for ensuring good decal adhesion and reducing silvering. I was somewhat surprised the video didn't start with that as a basis going forward. Also, I assume you will eventually use Micro Sol (or some other setting solution) to get the decals to snug into the louvers, etc (please remind folks that once you apply the setting solution, absolutely do not touch the decals.
    Very good video on how you can precisely add the decals.

  6. Good video. Question for you. When applying the yellow stripe next to the maroon one, how do you keep the previously set decal from coming loose again? Is there a setting/ drying time to wait for before proceeding onto the next decal

    I have tried renumbering a loco before and it seemed for me that I would add the letters and then go for the numbers and it would make the letters move again.

    Which leads me to another question. When changing a reporting mark on a factory locomotive, do you need to gloss coat the area of the decaling? Or is the model already gloss coated? If I do need a gloss coat to the area, how do I blend the gloss shine with the rest of the locomotive after my work is done so it is not an obvious gloasy spot
