I bought the product from Trainworld. While reading the instructions, I noticed it needed a decoder for working on a DCC layout. I wrote Atlas for a hint regarding a suitable decoder and was informed that the circuit board had a fault so for the present the best thing I could do was not to install a decoder before a solution to a new circuit board was ready.
Dapol – the English builder – did not agree so I built in a decoder and experienced all the faults Atlas mentioned.
To get along with it I removed the circuit board and installed the decoder like I would had it been a locomotive.
The car works nice; its ability to vacuum clean is good. To polish the track, it has some effect but I miss another brand to compare.
I did precautions must be taken not to overheat the motor.
