Nice to see the Denver & Rio Grande in action again! Fine articulated locomotive shots, working on those tough grades and coal smoke too! The Rio Grande California Zephyr was a great site as well. Cannot wait to ride some of those cars today! AAPRCO member owns at least 4 of those Zephyr cars!
These Rio Grande articulated steam engines are not the size of a UP Big Boy, but it is still fun to hear them working — mainly as helper engines on the steepest section of grade on the Moffet Tunnel Route through the mountains west of Denver. That is a sight (and sound) you will very rarely see / hear today. Hope to see and hear the UP Big Boy when it’s rebuilding is completed.
