Construction on MRVP’s HO scale Winston-Salem Southbound layout has come to a point where the scenery can start to take shape. In this installment, David shares a variety of techniques for applying ground covering, this time in the form of various grass mats formed from synthetic, electro-static grass. Best of all, you won’t need a special applicator to achieve incredibly realistic results!
Great video David. Blue Point installation, district circuit breakers and now static grass and grass mats are next on my winter work agenda. Having just bought some of the Heki grass mats, I knew it was time to come back to this series to learn from the expert. Thanks for teaching me the correct way to put these down.
hi david if i use diluted white glue it seems to make the ground fome darker will scinic cemment not do that
Hey David, that was a very instructional video and I learned a lot about static grass mats. I have areas on my layout where I want to put wild grass but I don't have the static tool to 'plant' the grass. These

What are the advantages and disadvantages of using deluted white glue or scenic cement to finish scenery?
I thought maybe it would be better to use diluted white glue because it is easy to find and very inexpensive.

David, I really enjoy your instructional videos. It's amazing that I was just looking at static grass applicators and I didn't know there were so many products such as highlighted in your video. I wrote down the numbers and will be investigating. Thanks for the help. Phil

David, looks great – nice work. Yes, the advantage of scenic cement versus diluted white glue is that usually there is no shine when dry. I sometimes use a small spray bottle to apply the scenic cement so that not so much is applied. All the best.

Wow, what a great product David and it looks so natural on that layout, nice work. You just solved a problem for my layout for filling in between tracks in some of the wilder branch areas. One question, do you think that one could use the regular static grass applicator over that mat material to fill in some bald spots? Thanks.
