The scenery work keeps rockin’ on the Olympia Logging Co. On30 layout as David Popp demonstrates another technique for making simple, yet realistic rock outcroppings using Sculptamold. David walks you through all of the steps, from mixing up the material to forming the rough shape to adding rock strata and crevice details. Follow along — you might actually enjoy working between a rock and a hard place!

  1. Hey David, Funny you should mention that the consistency should be that of stiff cottage cheese? You know you were using a cottage cheese container … how do we know that wasn’t actually cottage cheese?! Seriously, have you ever used a Surfoam tool to smooth or shape scenery material or is it too rough?

  2. Nice job with the sculptamold. I can tell you are a professional as you didn't even cover the track like I have to. Great video series!

  3. GREAT Video!! Thanks for a job well done. I've picked up some nice tips on rock formations and how to create them.

  4. Good lessons, David. I appreciate what you & your team have been doing. I sculpted with hydrocal plaster years ago & you had to be quick about things in those days! I'll be rehabing parts of my layout soon and Sculptamold really is the way to go now. Thanks again for your fine presentations.

  5. Great segment David, you are the Di Vinci of sculptamold carving. You and Kent make a great scenery team for MR video layouts. Thanks.
