Drew and Kent have relied on paper-based Sculptamold to fill in the sloped mountainside thus far. In this episode, they demonstrate another scenery surfacing technique that utilizes a relatively new and versatile product from Woodland Scenics. Watch and learn how easily Shaper Sheet can be use to cover broad patches of terrain, all without adding much infrastructure.

  1. I like that foil product. But I see the finished surface next to your work…. That looks fantastic! When are you going to reveal that technique?

  2. Shaper Sheet looks useful for small layout applications, but I think you may want to look for less expensive alternatives on a large layout.

  3. That shaper sheet stuff looks like a much easier way of filling scenery gaps. And a whole lot neater! Don’t think I’s want to try using casting sheets or the old wire and plaster.

  4. very good episode. Thanks for using the Shaper Sheet as I haven’t seen this covered in many videos. I have used Shaper Sheet in my projects, and Woodland Scenics has some good videos, but I enjoy seeing how others are using the various projects. I like Shaper Sheet because I model the prairies and hills of Nebraska and SS does a nice job with the rolling contours. Keep up the good work, you are both fine artists.

  5. What do you guys do with all the layouts you build? You must have a giant storage facility or do you sell them off eventually? There must have been quite a few layouts over the years.

  6. I had never taken any notice of shaper sheet before but now I can see this product has huge potential for scenery building. Great video. 🙂

  7. Question for Kent. If you were working by yourself, would you be able to use construction adhesive and tee pins in place of the quick setting hot glue, to give you more working time to fix the shaper sheets in place?
