TORONTO — GO Transit will begin regular weekday commuter service to Niagara Falls, Ont., on Jan. 7, 2019, extending a round trip that currently begins and ends in Hamilton.

The Government of Ontario announced last week that train No. 704, which currently departs from the Hamilton West Harbour station at 6:39 a.m., will now originate in Niagara Falls at 5:19 a.m. with an intermediate stop in St. Catherines. In the evening, train No. 581, which departs Toronto Union Station at 5:15 p.m., will be extended to serve St. Catherines and Niagara Falls.

GO Transit has previously offered seasonal, weekend- and holiday-only service to Niagara Falls. In 2018, that service operated from June 22 to September 3, as well as on holiday weekends in May and October.
