NEW YORK — Metro-North’s latest heritage unit, P32AC-DM No. 203, made its debut in commuter operation today (June 20, 2025), powering Hudson Line train No. 734, a 7:58 a.m. departure from Croton-Harmon to Grand Central Terminal. As has been the case with the debut of other heritage locomotives, No. 203 led the inbound train, rather than being in the conventional push position, and was looped at GCT to place it back in lead position on its subsequent outbound deadhead trip, according to photographer Adam Reich.
The locomotive, which wears the “MTA Central” scheme originated by seven Conrail FL9s in 1980, was unveiled on June 13 [see “News photos: Metro-North unveils …,” Trains News Wire, June 14, 2025]. Unlike the six earlier locomotives in the series, this one was repainted, rather than wrapped.
