JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — CSX’s latest heritage locomotive honors Seaboard Coast Line.
“Excited to share with you all our latest CSX Heritage Locomotive #1967 – the Seaboard Coast Line (SCL). Established in 1967, the Seaboard Coast Line railroad was a result of the merger of the Seaboard Air Line Railroad and the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad,” CSX CEO Joe Hinrichs wrote in a LinkedIn post this morning. “SCL had the majority market share in the southeastern United States. SCL eventually became part of the Family Lines System before CSX was formed in 1980. Another great job by our ONE CSX team in Waycross, GA. Enjoy.”
The CSX heritage fleet now numbers 14 units representing predecessor lines. Among them: Family Lines; Pere Marquette; Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac; Baltimore & Ohio; Chessie System; Seaboard System; Conrail; Chesapeake & Ohio; Louisville & Nashville; Atlantic Coast Line; New York Central; Monon; and Western Maryland.
