LOS ANGELES — LA-area commuter rail operator will shut down all service for a four-day period at the end of December to allow for installation of a new signal system and other work.
The service suspension is set for Tuesday, Dec. 26, through Friday, Dec. 29, and will cover the entire seven-line, five-county system, including San Bernardino County’s Arrow service. Metrolink has posted information about the shutdown on its website and notified regular customers by email on Friday. The commuter operator says the suspension will allow implementation of the L.A. Union Station Modernization project, updating track and signal systems at the entry point to Union Station to “provide better operational throughput and reliability.”
Metrolink will also perform cleaning and other repairs during the shutdown. While Metrolink itself will not provide alternative transportation, it plans to offer information on alternatives from other transportation agencies on its website.
